Small Town Water Distribution System Improvements

Client: San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

WRE engineers analyzed the hydraulic characteristics of a small town water distribution system and evaluated alternatives that would allow the system to meet fire flow requirements, maintain adequate pressures for residential and commercial customers, and improve water quality. Work included:

  • Assessment of existing facilities, site and regulatory constraints, tank and pump operation.
  • Development of computer model of water distribution system.
  • Development of test procedures and performance of flow tests on hydrants to compile flow and pressure data for calibrating computer model.
  • Development and testing (on computer model) of viable improvement options.
  • Preparation of Alternatives Analysis and Conceptual Engineering reports.
